Power + PaceDevelopment
The Biologically-Driven Speed & Strength Pathway for Fast Bowlers
Fast bowlers are the most injured athletes in sport. And for years, young fast bowlers have been handed generic programs that ignore the single most important factor in their physical development: their biology.
The Power + Pace Development Program changes that. Built around your biological age — specifically your Peak Height Velocity — this program ensures you always receive the exact physical stimulus your body is ready for.

THE PEAK HEIGHT VELOCITY (PHV) FRAMEWORK
1
Phase 1 — Pre-PHV
Maximise Pure Speed
In the period before the growth spurt, joints are still adaptable and the body is highly responsive to speed training. This is the window for pure arm speed, ball speed, and movement development.

Phase 2 — Approaching & During PHV · U13–U15
Build Safe Foundations
As the body begins to grow rapidly, joints stiffen and bones harden. Energy goes into growing, not speed development. This is not the time for heavy loads. We use bodyweight movements, bands, and Kilogear micro-loading to build strength safely.

Phase 3 — Post-PHV & Peak Weight Velocity · 16+
Graduate to the Gym
Approximately 18 months after peak height, hormonal changes — including testosterone increases — create the ideal environment for proper, gym-based strength work. This is when your body is biologically ready for heavy resistance training.

INITIAL ASSESSMENT
Initial Development Program Assessment — Mandatory
Every athlete completes a structured assessment before entering the program. This ensures we prescribe the right phase, the right load, and the right stimulus for where your body is right now.

Junior / Youth
Basic Velocity &
Age-Appropriate Testing
Age-Appropriate Testing
-
✓Basic velocity assessment to establish baseline bowling speed
-
✓Age-appropriate strength testing using benchmarks like isometric push-ups
-
✓Failure to hold key positions tells us the athlete is not ready for external loading
Advanced Youth / Senior
Advanced Metrics &
Comprehensive Testing
Comprehensive Testing
-
✓Advanced bowling metrics for a full performance profile
-
✓Comprehensive gym-based strength and weight capacity assessments
-
✓Results determine exact loading parameters and training phase placement
